I hear this song 1-2 times/day, or at least some Cumbia variation. It's good the first 10 times or so, though stretch 30-67 has been tough.

I recommend it when cooking Tex-Mex.

random poll request: would you rather: read fiction? read non-fiction?

ive lately thought less of fiction, as there's enough that seems not real in real life. but i will trump your nonsense with links!!! all i have time for lately is the incessant linking of drivel to people... in my spare time that is.

for the iphone, if you have one that is... wait for it... ohhh... oh god, fuuuuucccccccccckkkkkk yes:

http://tap.dj/

Nerd's Corner
(Williams age 11)
The Costa Rican version of Netflix has recently kicked-off, and now for only $4, small mustached men on dirt bikes will deliver pirated movies to your doorstep. You are given two months to return them and, given that they ask for no credit card information, you could (if so inclined) keep them forever.

As the service grows (known as CinExpress), the movie selection is improving. Last week I rented and watched Metropolis (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0017136/) (links! links!!). Have you seen this? German directed 1927 film. It's silent but has a great score and, for a movie that was made 84 years ago, is fantastically impressive. This nerd recommends it.

Also, I recently finished Portnoy's Complaint, written by Phillip Roth in 1969 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portnoy) (links! links!). Without question, this is the funniest book I've ever read. Puts David Sedaris or Augusten Buroughs or any other contemporary humorist to shame. It's about growing up as a neurotic Jewish kid and, while repressing almost all other urges, is uncontrollably sexually charged (including leaving dinner to jerk-it or banging the family's liver prior to serving it for dinner). It's f'ing hilarious and bizzarely and appropriately includes a TCU reference when talking about his envy of Goyim (non-Jews) and why blond girls would never date a slimy Jew like him.

"For these are the girls whose older brothers are the engaging good-natured, confident, clean, swift and powerful halfbacks for the college football teams called Northwestern, and Texas Christian, and UCLA. Their fathers are men with white hair and deep voices who never use double negatives, and their mothers are the ladies with the kindly smiles and the wonderful manners who say things like "I do believe, Mary, that we sold thirty-five cakes at the Bake Sale."

These are my nerd recommendations.

Have I written too much? If so, here's a daffy picture to break-up the excess wordage.

Happy President's Day!

Think we can go a work-week without a post of a link or a video about racoons throwing fade patterns?

Me neither!

it hadnt previously occurred to me that outside of the middle east there might be rioting too. ukraine: one silly nuclear reaction and a score of years, and even lincoln can't stop the upheaval and unheaving of breasts.

also, anderson cooper wouldve enjoyed being sexually assaulted (post below), whereas lara logan... not so much. it's sad when a hottie gets molested/raped. :( thank allah for the veiled women that saved her life though. positive onda in the direction of the logan family.

how's the clan(clint, lube, butz excluded) fairing in this oh so cali dreamin weather we been having? if we can talk about anything, anything at all, it's probably the weather, huh? team!!!

just keep rockin' in the free world!

Not bad for Green Bay.
Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers.

You couldn't ask for a better team to win.  Nice to see good guys like Rodgers, Jennings, Woodson and Driver get a ring.  I am also happy to report Nick Butz was wrong when he sent me a smug text stating the Steelers would win.
happy monday!
