This was actually Game 7 of the Costa Rican Championship League. There are about Nicaraguan teams in the league.
Game Highlights:
- Several infield singles - 11-12 headfirst slides into first base - A 5'4'' 2nd Baseman with a pony tail down to his hamstrings - Post-game celebration including 9 year old kids pounding champagne - A 6'6'' Cuban hit a ball to Panama to clinch the win for Costa Rica
"A 6'6'' Cuban hit a ball to Panama to clinch the win for Costa Rica" - And this morning he woke up 5 yrs older than yesterday and signed a deal with the Mets...wierd right?
The Cuban was 27, threw in the high 80s/lower 90s and knocked the poop out of the ball. He'd played pro in Dominican Republic, but he told me after the game he knew the "Grandes Ligas" was not realistic.
Costa Rica has never had an MLB player. I think most of us could have had a roster spot on these teams.
I agree with Williams about Jon/Joe. I am agreeing- not declaring- that Joe Morgan knows baseball like no one else. I learn something new every time I listen to him.
