Is This Acceptable Behavior?
I was at a party last night. I was talking with my wife, her friend Lynn and a guy who recently got engaged to one of their friends. They were asking him about the proposal. He said, "When I proposed her blue eyes turned almost pink. It was beautiful. It looked like a sunset." Lynn melted, Piper said "awwww," and I just stared blankly at him. I feel his behavior was unbefitting of a man.
Am I wrong?

The Social Network
(four months behind)
(four months behind)
People always ask "what do you miss from the U.S?" Aside from family, friends, black people and respect for punctuality, materialistically (artistically), I really miss movies. Good, indie, foreign or mainstream, well-directed, well-acted, important, movies.
And tonight, I went to the premier of The Social Network. Now, for the next 48 hours I can thumb my nose at uninformed Costa Rican populace who are yet to see the movie, for I, an esteemed member of the national media, was granted access to the VIP Sneak Peek screening of the four month old movie.
Back in September, when this movie was released, I read a story about it in the New Yorker. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/09/20/100920fa_fact_vargas
It made me not want to see the movie. Why? The writer of the book that this movie was based on "The Accidental Billionaires", never met nor interviewed Mark Zuckerberg. Neither did the screen-writer Alan Sorkin. The sources used for the book and movie were people who visciously loathed Zuckerberg and were suing him for millions.
Imagine if I met with everyone of Lee Portillo's worst enemies and then wrote a book about Lee Portillo based on what they said. Then, another guy who'd never met Lee Portillo, distorted my already distorted book and made a movie out of it. And then 47 million people saw it, and 46.85 million believed it.
Before I Rooney-rant again, this movie was great. Great dialogue, direction, acting, music. Well done.
Too bad it's most likely a fabricated sham.
There doesn't seem to be much concern for the source of information anymore. See it, hear it, read it, believe it.
1985.
i tried. i really tried. even the showbiz and sports news was lame. you know, we might be fucked, but, im optimistic as ever about what's over the horizon...

has anyone ever been in a group email, had a conversation with just one person from said grouped email, while you thought that you were still in original group email and being super witty and awesome, only to realize an hour or more later that you were having an awkward exchange with just one person from the group? i feel like this is potentially a common occurrence.
i did this with butz last night in reference to minnesota summer funtime.
i'll start post with last exchange that the group saw:
butz- I was hoping to camp with Miller, so he could be my campin' companion and take care of my "needs".
(and here's where i fuct it up, and start brainfart-realization-timer)
me- last thing im gonna do is wipe a ewok's ass.
butz- I can wipe my ass. I just need help with other tasks.
me- what other tasks? i dont know how to make you feel safe outside.
butz- Its not that I don't feel safe. I just need someone to cook for me. And feed me. With their toes. I thought that could be you?
me- if i go to minnesota for sum summer time fun, i will certainly feed you from my toes. and, i hope you like raw fish same as me. ain't no french fried taters where lubedbond is goin' ... if you havent watched deliverance, now is the time.
somebody should bring a blowgun, and yall should kill and eat varmin 'n smores. or karp. who likes koi?
me- and i just realized we're off the email string. brain dead.
butz- Yep. Just me and you talkin weird stuff. Makes it more weird
(kevin responded by now, and put email string back on track)
me- we gotta put the conversation out to the rest of em so we dont feel so queer.
--end conversation
only took me an one and one half hours to realize it was just me and butz frolicking through fields of email man love.
i love man. i know, i know, lame.

This video has a purpose. What movie does every one rave about that you simply do not get, like, or see what all the hubbub is about? I don't mean Citizen Kane or Casablanca.
For instance (and please don't be mad at me Kevin), I never really got into Back to the Future. I also wasn't a big Lord of the Rings fan. I kinda liked the first one- but the second two didn't do much for me.
Now Playing:
peter hates the godfather video
