"Tyson Chandler is a the second best center in the NBA." -Adam Faust
Are the Mavs the favorites for the NBA Title?
Obviously, I am not the fairest judge of how good the Mavs really are- but I think this is the best team in this mediocre franchises history.  I'd love to hear how others feel about the Mavericks dismantling of the champs, and their chances going forward.

Bynum could have killed Barea on that play. He should be issued a 1 year suspension as due punishment.

Other notes:

1. Barea is good. I used to think he was a ball boy a couple of years ago.

2. Peja is back.

3. I fucking hate Jason Terry like Williams hates Enrique.

I dont like this post. Too soon. Remember history. Anything about the Mavs winning the title should only be posted when the Mavs have a 34-point leading with 0.6 second remaining in the clinching game of the NBA finals. And even that may be too soon.

They looked amazing against the Lakers, but that means nothing. There are two series remaining and just 4 seasons ago they won 67 regular season games and the Golden State Warriors annihilated them. Baron Davis's penis had 11 points and 4 rebounds per game. OKC could do the same. Memphis, however, I think the Mavs will beat. Mavs have enough size to slow down crazy Zack-Attack Randolph.

If you listened to Phil Jackson's post-game conference yesterday, which was pretty funny (he referenced peyote), he said something which I think makes a lot of sense. He said the Lakers were tired. He was tired. They went to the Finals 3 years in a row. They lost the first one and then won the next 2 in a row. He said that every night, teams throw their best punch at them, and that it takes a toll.

I hate the Lakers, but I believed it. In game 2 , they just looked weird. They missed everything. Kobe missed everything. The whole team missed wide-open shots. Often.

While I think the Mavs played superb, I think they played a Lakers team that has already peaked and is probably on its way back down. Nobody wins 3-peats anymore. Not even Phil Jackson, and he did it 3 separate times.

So don't go crazy and don't let your heart beat out of your chest yet.

They looked great, but if they drop game 1 against Memphis or OKC, well, the Lakers sweep will quickly be a distant memory.

Wow. Scoops Callahan is Tom Gribble from The Ticket? He hired me for a non-paid internship. Thanks Tom!

While I bet Scoops Callahan is pretty funny usually, this is dumb, particularly for it to be the last question ever asked to Phil Jackson in his career. Good publicity for The Ticket, however, which always takes advantage of a good Dallas sports run to mock "real" sports reporting.

I know I was one, but I think sports reporters are generally pretty worthless.

During your "internship", did you ever have to wear one of those little hats and stand on the corner in downtown Ft. Worth Hawking newspapers a la "Hot off the presses!"?

I bet Scoops worked you to the bone.

No. I spliced sports audio to try to make it funny.

Scoops was a goofy, pale, awkward guy with diabetes. But he was cool.
