Friendly Wager?

I like this World Series matchup, as well as the IC rivalry that accompanies it. Chambers is a Rangers fan (sort of), so we're STL Butz-Faust and TEX Chambers-Williams.

I also think this is the best two teams in baseball right now, so that's cool. One thing I do not think is cool is giving WS homefield advantage based on the winner of the All-Star game in July. That is dumb. Has to be one of the silliest league governing decisions in sports. Rangers won their division and finished six games ahead of the Cards, though will start the series on the road. Shouldn't record be the determining factor, and not some meaningless scrimmage game four months ago between superstar strangers?

Regardless, I think the Rangers are going to win this series. Rangers in 6.

I'll put $100 on the Rangers? Any takers?

Dead blog.

I blame Lubahn.

I watched a lot of game 1. My goal is to watch the Fall Classic instead of accidentally forgetting about it (which most Americans do but are too afraid to admit it)

Go Rangers

I guess I can't take your bet now that the Birds are up 1-0. I will be at Game 3 with Chambers. I believe Butz and Mazur will be there as well. I think the World Series is the best sports event to attend. I can't think of anything better.

World Cup Final would be pretty awesome.

Game 7 of NBA Finals is pretty intense, Id probably choose that over World Series Game 7... but thats just more the bball fan inside me.

Super Bowl would be fun, but its so much of an event that it barely even feels like a real game sometimes.

The Rose Bowl is the best sporting event I have ever attended and that could very easily stay that way for the rest of my life. Everything about that day, stadium, and game still gives me goosebumps.

Is Chambers a confirmed Rangers fan? What about Mazur?

I love Ron Washington, but he tried some things last night that felt like a game of one-upmanship with La Russa. It was weird, and he did this last year in the World Series, so I'm a little worried.

* Lead-off single resulted in failed hit and run in the first inning, which was purposeless to attempt

* Every time La Russa changed pitchers, we changed batters, which resulted in a 3-pitch strike out at bat for a guy who hasn't batted in the playoffs at a crucial moment in the bottom of the 7th.

I only hope the Rangers can put up 8 runs tonight. I'm a little worried about Ron Wash's decisions in close World Series games.

PS - I'll still take the bet. Either $100 or something idiotic such as a Friar cut. Any ideas? Bet must be confirmed before first pitch.

Cowards.

Let's raise the stakes. It's 1-1 and Elvis Andrus just fielded another grounder with the webbing of his fin hands. Venezuela, good for oil and shortstops.

$250?

Do I hear $500?

Put your money where your playoff beards are, St. Louis, Misery-ions.

PS - Playoff beards are dumb.

Hey Barkley, did you just offer a $500 bet? I have to say I am impressed and a little intimidated-two feelings that make me uncomfortable.

This is a great series- I don't want to taint it with a bet (is that believable?).

It's believable that you are a weenie.

This series is pretty fantastic. Good pitching, defense, base running, and even the umpiring has been solid. Jaime Garcia and Colby Lewis were pretty much untouchable for 7 innnings.

The Rangers had two singles in the 9th and turned them into 2 runs. Im still not sure how.

I will bet $20 that Beltre hits a homerun in Game 3. What about that bet?
