My boss just said to me, "I am going to go run some errands, I will be back in a bit."

Is this acceptable?

What were the errands?

If he brings you back some Pringles, then yes, it is acceptable.

There are too many variables here, need more information. Is this the owner of the company? If thats the case then they can do whatever the hell they want. If this is just a overseeing boss that is overseen by someone else, then it probably isnt acceptable... unless they are planning on not taking a lunch break.

He's just a boss- not an owner or even a VP.

faust, you shoulda looked him in the eye and asked him why he was telling you; and further, by telling you, insinuating that you were in some way part of his scummy decision to leave the office.

I do not see the issue here? Are you upset that he is leaving to run errands during work or that he told you? Do you run errands at work? Again, I feel like because you work in an office where creative work is your business, normal work rules do not apply. Skinny jeans, wool hats, people skateboarding in the office al exist. As does a boss running errands, problably for "cigs" or "smokes". Am I right? Problably. Faust, are you still a non smoker?
