Tough day at the office
As a job requirement, I have to go the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert tonight and write a review on it. What a drag.
Since being here, Aerosmith, Green Day, Metallica, Depeche Mode, and in a few weeks Pearl Jam, have come to Costa Rica. (as well as some other bums)
If you had to see one band from the 80s-90s that you listened to growing up, who would it be? Pearl Jam "Ten" was my first CD, so I'm pretty pumped for that one. I think Def Leoppard would also arouse my Girbaud jeans.

Saw PJ live in Paris in 2000. They rocked those frogs tits right off. I remember the French "BO" grow stronger as the opening act (The Vandals) left and PJ came out to the chants of "Pearl Jham!" "Pearl Jham!". I think there was a documentary recently made about PJ and Eddie Veder.
I actually saw Def Leoppard perform in a Wal-Mart parking lot in San Antonio in 1999. The rest of my life has been downhill ever since.
I would say Nirvana. I was that kid who liked Nirvana, and then we he killed himself I F'LOVED Nirvana.
Nirvana is/was better than Pearl Jam.
I am going with Danzig. I liked the alien titted album cover.
Also, Beastie Boys for sure.
Just got back from the concert and decided that Red Hot Chilli Peppers kind of suck. I was fooled as a boy and am just now finding out.
Realizations:
- Lyrics are bad: "What I got you got to give it yo poppa, what I got yo got to get it put it in you." And that's one of their best songs.
- Songs are formulaic - fast lyrics, sing-a-long chorus, flea getting really hyperactive
- Bad showmanship. No relation with the crowd. No games, tomfoolery, jokes, etc. Came to Costa Rica, said Buenas Noches, sang Under the Bridge, got a paycheck, went home
I think Stone Temple Pilots would be a cool show.
Under the Bridge is a great song, regardless of mood... Other than that though, you usually have to be in a "Chili Pepper mood" to enjoy.. happens once or twice a year.
Soul to Squeeze and Otherside are good too.
New album is painful.
I guess that's what happens when funk rock bands turn 50.
rage.
i saw red hot con portillo in OKC. it was a good concert. portillo and his bleach streaks actually stood in for anthony for a song and no one noticed.
I gave them a subpar review and now readers are pissed at the Tico Times and calling me a cynical jackass.
I don't where they got that idea.
I agree with Mazur...Rage
