If you are a fan of TCU football, then I encourage you to watch this youtube link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xe46HOHBYw

I would have embeded to the blog but unfortunately our blog is still formated in standard aspect ratio (4:3).

I know we typically do not get a lot of comments on videos, but I think this one deserves a little something, especially since the season starts Saturday. Spit Blood TCU.

Enjoy.

Hey folks,

How is everyone doing out there in your worlds? I had a nice Labor Day weekend. I had Chambers, Jess, baby Luke, Bear and Katie over on Saturday night for some fajitas and beer. Luke Chambers is a good baby.

I received a text message form Lubahn who was attending his 10 year high school reunion. I am not sure if he was drunk or not, here is a text I got from him at 1:29am- you be the judge, "Bats closr sat 3... drunk las a skunk... u r my freid" This is verbatim.

Lee is fastidiously shopping for a car. He will surely make a decision by 2011.

I talked to Williams last night. He is working a lot and actually does get paid in bananas. He is close tp booking a flight around homecoming so keep the pressure on to bring babaganoosh home.

Piper and I are pretty sure we will be coming up to Fort Worth for homecoming/halloween.

Hope all is well.

Reviving the Classics

For whatever reason the last couple of books that I have read have been old school books...high school mandated..that I guess I really didn't get and to be honest still can't quite comprehend. This little fella is quite a doozy...great book and author, but certainly far from normal.

Side note, recently finished The Catcher in the Rye and still love that book...one of my all time favs.

With all of that being said, any suggestions on favorite books/authors? We all have different tastes but I'll give any book a shot.

STEP YO GAME UP!

For those of you who have not been keeping up with the Little League World Series, team Southwest... aka team Texas.... aka team San Antonio... aka team MCALLISTER PARK, is 3-0 and just beat the heavy weight (literally) favorites Chula Vista from California last night. McAllister Park is where us Churchill boys grew up playing tee-ball, machine pitch, soccer, kite flying, etc. They are down to the final 4 teams in the US and 3 games away from the World Championship (which will be Sunday). They play Staten Island, N.Y. tonight.
Here is the link in case you might be interested in reading further. -

NYE 2010 Costa Rica

It's mid August. In a little over four months, the, uh, 00s decade will come to a close. What better place to be than Costa Rica? Right? Yes, that seems right. Haha. Oh, yes, joyous times. Ha.

In my dreamiest of dreams, I would love for the first international IC NYE to take place right here in Central America. I think I could work out a deal on a hotel and, in the middle of the US winter, we could celebrate NYE 2010 with a bonfire on the Pacific. (It's legal here) I'm posting this now to get the reactions of the IC and check the feasibility of this actually going down. I know Miller is committed, it seems Portillo is leaning this direction and Chambone just flatout comes through in the clutch. What yall think? Flights are cheap and I know I could get us a cheap hotel rate (like $25/night) on the beach.

Who's in??????

Or at least considering...

IC IDENTITY CRISIS
Hello Gentleman. This is Adam Williams. You might remember me from such instances as "The time I tried to jump over water onto Kevin's dock" or "The time a neighbor boy touched me in my sleep". Those of you that are Simpsons fans would recognize that as a Troy McClure (Phil Hartman's voice) opener. Which leads me to this question: How many of you were Simpsons lovers? Which leads me to this question, which is the general theme of this post:
How many of us do you really feel you know these days?
There it is.
I feel like having a Koom-By-Ya blog. A, this is me right now and this is who I am Blog.
I thought this stemmed from moving to a different country, but I realize these thoughts have been stirring in my head long before I left Chicago. For a quite a while over the past year, I feel the threads of the IC are loosening, like your baby blanket that your mom keeps in a closet and you see every few years and say "awww", even though it's all tattered and useless.
Truthfully, I know we know each other from our pasts, from college and a few years thereafter. Some of those friendships are still strong. Some have weakened.
It seems, as we get older and get wives and kids and careers, friendships we once considered a necessity, become a novelty. Friendship is now just that fun getaway 2-4 times a year, where you can revert to who you used to be and do what you used to do.
For some reason, that doesn't satisfy me like it used to.
I think I feel differently about it, because, aside from our 2-3 nights of getting drunk and taking pictures of how drunk we are and Faust pushing his "best man" into a trash can, part of me knows I don't know some of you at your core, or at least as well as I used to.
So...
I think it's profile time. All (10) members, if we still have 10, fucking write something about yourself. Funny, sappy, serious, or in Samuel L. Jackson mutha fuckin' SPeak!
I don't care. I just want to hear from my "10 best friends" and hear what is going on with their lives.
Somebody start.
That's it.

Oh, and Costa Rica for New Year's. My boss has a guy who owns a hotel on the beach. I stayed there last weekend for $30/night. Beers ran me a $1.25.

The Voting is In, Miller takes #1 spot, Lubahn close 2nd....

LAKE LBJ - After a long week of accumulating votes and 2 miscounts, Marc Miller was voted MVP of the 2009 July lake house trip. Just 1 vote shy of Miller was the defending MVP champ Brent Lubahn. Scott Benson finished third in the voting and some say that his foot injury on Saturday afternoon might have cost him the 1st place prize. Points were calculated based on arrival time, tube wars, # of beer bongs, time spent on Fun Island, last one to bed, and overall drunkenness. Both Benson and Miller received a huge boost in point by arriving three hours before even the host, Kevin Dalrymple, showed up. They also each earned bonus points by staying until a whopping 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. When asked about Miller's performance, Dalrymple was quoted "Well, besides briefly pissing off my wife, Marc had a tremendous performance. He was high in every single category, and blew everyone away in overall drunkenness (which is the only category that has no ceiling)." Miller was said to be drinking straight vodka on ice all weekend, but because he is who he is, no one would ever he know it. Not only that, but the man drank wine during Saturday night’s drinking game.

Lubahn stormed into the lake house around 4:30 PM on Friday, which was very impressive. He immediately made himself a drink and demanded a booze cruise. The moment he arrived back from the cruise, he was on the Fun Island in a matter of seconds. "Lubahn always shows up to plays," said Dalrymple, "He never shies away from anything, and that’s why he is always in the running." Brent Lubahn never disappoints, and 2009 was no exception.

Scott Benson was the drunkest human being from time he arrived all the way up to when he fainted on my driveway in a pool of blood. After slicing his foot open on what turned out to be an old metal flower bed, Benson’s lake house trip was all but over. He was well on his way to winning the overall drunkenness category and that might have very well put him ahead of both Lubahn and Miller. "He was giving a lot of high fives" said Kevin, "A LOT of high fives.” Not sure if the high fives were helping or not in his race, but Benson was out of commission after he returned home with 12 stitches in the bottom of his foot

Best of the rest. Everyone received a high grades and no one disappointed. Chambers actually won the tube wars votes by somehow never getting tired. Piel and Weiss both scored huge bonus points by being there when Kevin needed someone to take Scott to the hospital. Faust even went into the negative side of the votes on Friday night by yelling,... wait no,.. screaming at the host after he called called Adam a fag, and managed to pull himself back to receive a respectably score. "We were both a little drunk" said Adam. Mazur was right up there with Weiss in the ‘last one to go to bed’ category, and was drunker than 10 Indians late Saturday night when he passed out on the dock. "I think everyone performed well, if you do not see your name on the top 3 this year, then you just need to try a little harder next year. What matters most, is I just hope everyone had a good time."

i guess this recent trip was kind of a downer?

I think it is about time to start thinking about possible teams for next weekend. I have never done team tube wars but it seems like fun and it certainly looks safe enough....

Yes, I am forced to watch this show every season and had the thought while watching it last night. Why not Adam Williams?

Monday, July 06, 2009

My Blog settings are in Spanish. It took me 6 minutes to get this far.

Hope you Americans had a good 4th of July. It's weird being out of the country on Independence day. I assume you all indulged on all that is American: meat, beer, music, boats and lakes. Lakes are American. Lakes only exist in America.

Couple of things:

Where is Lee Portillo?

Where is Clint Brown?

Who's coming to visit me first?
I'm going to a volcano next week. The bus fare is a dollar. The hotel is 17$/night.
Bus fare to the beach runs about 3$, and is safer than the Greyhound, but not as American.
My roommate is Canadian. He has a Terrence and Phillip egg head.

No one here has commented on my likeness to Federer yet. When oh when will the day come? Open your eyes Costa Rica. Open your eyes.
We are almost at 500 posts. How about this week, we try for a post a day. Just one. One post, five days in a row. Somebody tell a story from the weekend. Do it. Now.

she'se certain my psychiatric state requires psychiatry. i disagree.

this is not a cry for help.

i'm open to suggestion. i've already scheduled some visit with some witch doctor. but if that comes up clean, i'm tempted to throw it in her face. like federer, or some shit. and then move on.

court is in session.

The Mythical GI JOE Aircraft Carrier

Did any of you have this? What about other great toys?

Optimus Prime?
4-Wheeler?
Starter Jacket?

Were you the weird kid that had to keep his toys in boxes?
Did you have friends that you used just b/c they had cool toys?
Were you that kid?

I am trying to remember, but nothing that spectacular comes to mind. My parents are lovely people, but I feel like they were always just a bit off (ie I relentlessly begged for a Starter jacket and ended up with a f' Proline Jacket)

Thoughts?

RESPECT:

Agreed. The lake house deserves respect. It is my favorite house to be at with the exception of my own home. I love it. There has never been a better host of any party ever than Sir Bear. He has only one concern; that his friends have fun.

Some people simply can not get off work (or kids), and you could give us one years notice and that doesn't mean we will be able to get off. The fact is that the USA is a great country, but not when it comes to holiday time. 10 Days off a year just ain't right. Regardless this is not a respect issue, but simply a realistic work issue.

All praise the lake. It is good.

Chambers is bringing his own golf cart

The golf outing in just a few short days should be spectacular and I would like to make some preseason predictions

* Randall beats everyone but his son
* Nancy Lopez gets into a groove from holes 7-12 but then gets a little drunk and falls apart
* Faust throws his driver at least once
* Williams beats Faust
* Miller plays every third hole
* Chambers gets out driven my Williams and Williams does his dance
* Miller hits on the cart girl

I'm pumped

P.s. Good luck at the dentist

i feel like this reaction could have occurred at the faust household early nineties

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

So, I may not post very much but I still think about you all often. To prove it, I came across this video and immediately thought of two people, Brian Weiss and Adam Williams. I believe either one could have done this and perhaps while sporting even shorter shorts.

Zack is Back!

Ok, I dont know if anyone caught this last night or today while browsing on the web, but if you did then shame on you for not posting it earlier. This is one of the most awesome and funniest things I have seen in quite a long time. Williams, I wish I could be there when you watch this.

The Great American City

It's Saturday night around midnight. My room is half in boxes and I just heard the roar of the El, probably the last train of the night, from the station a few blocks away.

This is the last Saturday night I'll spend in Chicago and I'd be lying if I claimed I wasn't pretty damn upset to leave this place. I've spent the last couple of weeks visiting the places (and chicas) I laid claim to while here; the ones of significant memories and of three pretty excellent years in this great American city.

Not to lull you to sleep with `Williams whimsical memory lane' blog, but, when I think about living in Chicago, I realize I was not born here and am not from here, but I'd be happy to grow old here. To me, this city embodies all that `America' has been erected to represent. From the towering monuments of corporations that make up the skyline (and of course a Trump tower), to the most pathetic project homes in the country, it encompasses the whitest of the white collars and the stankiest of the stank collars. It is, aside from New York, the American city that best represents the `melting pot' ideal of the country. I think the only type of person I haven't met here is an Antarctican.

Before I keep this up (because I could), I want to say: my best memories in Chicago were when the IC came through. New Years weekend, despite the infamous Japoneis Melee of 05-06, was about as good as it gets. I remember riding the train from Second City to my apartment and thinking how rad it was for my crew to sit through the cold and take the route I took about 109 times while I was here. Then there was Cubbies and Ditka with bachelor Bear, a sell out crowd to watch a Faust-Williams street fight, Lubahn verbally critiquing a movie with 45 minutes left in the film and a near miss on homosexuality with Weiss and our little harlot.

What I'm getting at is, despite all this Grade A city has to offer, it was when you all were here to experience it with me that I enjoyed it the most. SO, when you're on Expedia in two months and contemplating whether or not to hit `purchase' for a ticket to San Jose, Costa Rica, I urge you to come back and read this post. Then, to keep the tradition created here, I'll meet you at airport.

Costa Rica

Hello friends. This is a picture of San Jose, the capitol of Costa Rica. About three weeks ago, I was offered a writer/reporter gig there for a newspaper called The Tico Times, the only English speaking publication in the country and one of a few in Central America. I took it. They tell me I'll write primarily from San Jose, though I will travel around the country some and write stories about a number of topics. One of my beats is actually tourism, so I expect a fair amount of travel.
I figured, if I'm going to be a writer of some sort when I grow up, here's a pretty prime opportunity for material. A lot of my stuff will be online at http://www.ticotimes.net/. Feel free to hate mail me there when I slander your favorite Costa Rican political party.

So, in tres semanas, I leave Chicago, come through Dallas for a week (June 15-22) and head south. I hope to see as many as you as possible before leaving. If not, I hope you guys will come visit, especially considering airfare is as cheap or cheaper than flying to Chicago, and I hear the weather there is a little nicer.

Life happens.
A-Dub, I did a google image search of Costa Rica (trying to find a map), and this is one of the first images that came up.... have fun my friend.

Im playing golf with Mike James tomorrow.

What are yall up to?
The entire interview is great, but mainly listen to his story in the first 30 seconds to a minute:
